April 07,2013

Penampang: Singer Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SINGER) Sabah is targeting to achieve RM45 million in sales this year in the state and Labuan.

Singer Sabah and Labuan regional manager Yap Sin Teck said that the target was achievable as the popular brand name for household items would be introducing new products so that consumers were spoilt for choice.

Coupled with Singer’s easy and friendly payment schemes, Yap said that the company would be able to do better in Sabah this year.

Yap when met at the ‘Pesta Kraft, Makanan & Minuman Tradisional Penampang 2013’ at Buhavan Square here on Saturday, said that last year Singer Sabah and Labuan recorded a total sales of RM42.1 million.

Singer Sabah and Labuan through its Gaya branch was the co-organizing the event with Pusat Cemerlang P174 Penampang and this was the third year they were working together.

He disclosed that among the new products released this year was the Side by Side Refrigerator which is built with contemporary features and is priced reasonably.

“With our easy payment schemes and excellent service, Singer has huge market in Sabah and Labuan,” he said adding that the company currently has 15 branches and 73 business dealer associate shops in the state and Labuan.

There are plans to increase the number of outlets to 100 by the end of this year, Yap added.

According to him further, Singer Sabah is expanding its motorcycle sales business and is offering brands such as Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha.

“I am confident with motorcycle sales we can easily achieve RM50 million sales this year. And I am targeting to achieve at least 10 per cent of the total motorcycle market share in Sabah and Labuan,” he said.

Yap added that the collaboration with Pusat Cemerlang P174 Penampang had also boosted awareness of Singer products in the district.

“This is the third year we are working with the Pusat Cemerlang and it is also in line with our corporate philosophy as we want to give back to the people,” he said adding that Singer Sabah had sponsored about RM25,000 in prizes for this year’s event.

“We are happy to be able to carry out our corporate social responsibility as we can help to build the interest in sewing in the community here and at the same time housewives as well as single mothers to get a steady income,” he said.
